Doncaster Orthodontic Centre

I have been working with the Orthodontic centre for a number of years, initially by shooting Damien’s daughters wedding. I shot a recent gallery for their webiste, and magazine promotion

A foggy morning

I love fog, it totally changes the way we see and hear things, its like walking around in cotton wool. Colours are so muted, everything takes on a melancholy feel. So I was out early hoping the sun would break thru but alas it remained foggy damp and cold. These images were taken at Oxshott heath in Surrey.  Took the Fuji X100 out for a spin, just loving the way it renders colour, sharpness and its so light.

Autumn colours at Bolder Mere

A sunny day, clear blue sky, a crispness to the air. No finer day for taking pictures. Went off for a walk around Bolder Mere near Oxshott, Late afternoon sun really brought out the colours from the trees.  Shooting with my Fuji X100.

Shooting outdoors

I love shooting outdoors and much prefer it to being in the studio. You are able to use colour and light much more effectively, and the elements as well check out the pics from Maxwells shoot from a couple of weeks ago. It was a lovely afternoon with a bit of a breeze, asked his mum to throw some leaves in his direction, and Helen being Helen launched the whole lot at him in one go no wonder he shut his eyes. Great afternoon with lovely people.

Warm Autumn days in London & Brighton

Had a weekend in London, visited the Don McCullin retrospective at the Imperial War Musuem, had a walk around the City, followed by a trip down to the south coast to Brighton. The weather was perfect the afternoon sun and the change in season gives such fantastic light. A few pictures from my wanderings, took along my little panasonic Lx3 which makes a change from hauling the Nikons around. Im now thinking of buying a Fuji x100 for this type of work. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Trash the Dress session

Had a great Trash the dress photo shoot today, couldn’t get more industrial than the disused power station. It was fantastic for this type of shoot
bit of a struggle getting over the gate. The place was superb for the kind of shots I was looking for. Very moody and quite unnerving in places, underneath the cooling towers felt very strange. Still nice to do this as it looks like the lot will be coming down soon, pity I kinda like the towers and have known them all my life, so I will miss them, when they are gone. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Had the pleasure of shooting Damian Bourke again, who is doing his bit to raise money for charity Help for Heroes, pictured alongside Chris parkinson and son Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson who was seriously injured  serving with 7 RHA in Afghanistan. Its something really vlose to my heart as I served in the Parachute Regiment and worked alongside 7RHA on many occasions. Utrinque Paratus. Wish them all the greatest of luck in this challeng and please help them out in anyway you can.

Below is the official press release

Doncaster Orthodontist to cycle 3000 Across America for Help For Heroes

Damian Bourke, Principal Orthodontist at The Orthodontic Centre, will be part of a team cycling across America in aid of Help for Heroes.

The Strategic Lions Cycling Team have set the ambitious goal of winning and setting a new record in the gruelling and prestigious 2011 Race Across America (RAAM) team event, now in its 30th year. The team has been assembled and organised by Strategic Team Group (STG), a Yorkshire company.

Eight riders and eleven support crew will be joining forces as The Strategic Lions Team in RAAM to raise money for Help for Heroes. The cycling team includes STG staff Andy Watson and Stuart Loben, Sportscover Strategic Pro Cycling Team riders Ash Brown, John Tanner, Kev Dawson and Chris Last and Collin Humphrey as well as Damian Bourke, Doncaster Orthodontist. The race commences on 18 June in California and finishes around 5 ½ days later in Maryland, USA.

The support team will include Chris Parkinson of Parkinson’s Dental whose son, Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson was seriously injured in Afghanistan. He was serving with 7 Para RHA in September 2006 and is still the most severely injured soldier ever to survive.

Damian Bourke said “Help for Heroes is such a great cause and I am delighted to be contributing, especially in view of the fact that Ben is a local lad and the son of my friend Chris.  I have been very impressed with peoples’ attitudes and enthusiasm to back our effort for Help for Heroes. Wates are an excellent example of a company with a sense of responsibility and I am very grateful for their support.”

Wates Construction, currently building the town’s new Civic Offices and Campsmount Technology College, has already donated £200 to the race team for the Help for Heroes charity. Wates will also be opening the doors to its Civic Office site canteen to enable Orthodontic Centre staff to sell home-made cakes and help raise more funds.

The Strategic Lions Cycling Team is now actively seeking sponsorship and charitable donations from individuals, businesses and organisations who wish to be associated with this exciting and prestigious international event.  For further information, or to make donations, please contact Andrea Coley at The Orthodontic Centre on 01302 366466 or just call into the practice at 3 Chequer Road, Doncaster.
